How to Prepare Your Home for Real Estate Photography in Omaha

Buying a home often starts online, which means high-quality listing photos are more important than ever. If you’re preparing a property for real estate photography in Omaha, taking the time to properly stage and clean the space can make a major difference in how quickly it attracts buyers. DECLUTTER AND SIMPLIFY EACH ROOM

Before your scheduled real estate photography session, remove unnecessary items such as personal décor, excess furniture, and clutter. Open spaces photograph better and help buyers visualize themselves living in the home. Where to put excess furniture? The most common place is the garage. If you don’t have one, don’t worry. We will still make your home feel like your buyers next home.

LET IN NATURAL LIGHT

Lighting is one of the most important elements in real estate photography. Open blinds, raise shades, and turn on all interior lights before the shoot. Well-lit homes in Omaha tend to stand out more in online listings. But hey, if you leave a light or two off, we do have hands and a few brain-cells and can easily take care of that. We won’t leave you in the dark. Pun intended. Speaking of lights, if you are able to make all of the interior lights the same color, we’ll love you forever. If you can’t, it’s fine. It’s fiiiiiiiiiiiine. But ideally, all sockets should have working bulbs and we can work with that.

REMOVE PERSONAL ITEMS

Family photos, personal collections, and highly specific décor should be removed. A neutral environment allows potential buyers to focus on the home itself rather than the homies currently occupying the property. It is not uncommon for us to take down fridge magnets and little trinkets and then try to put them back where they were. Or on the counter so you can find em!

PREPARE KITCHEN AND BATHROOMS

Clear the countertops and give em a little wipe down. It turns out, us Omahan’s really like spending time in the kitchen and subsequently, the bathroom. Place toilet lids down and hide the little bathroom trashcan. If you can’t, we’ll hide it behind our backs while our cameras do the snapping. As for the kitchen trashcan, we’ll also hide it behind our backs.

THE EXTERIOR

Curb appeal matters. Mow the lawn, tidy up outdoor spaces, make the kids put away their bikes and yard toys. We definitely want to get cars out of the driveway and ideally a few houses down. Why? Because we want to advertise your Omaha Homeaha, not your 2004 Chevy Cavalier (Charlie’s first care after Basic Training.) Exterior shots ARE the power photos for a Real Estate Photography and Media Listing. Realtors put the exterior photos as the first photos buyers see and taking the time to prepare for that will increase interest and drive traffic to you!

FINAL WALKTHROUGH BEFORE YOUR SHOOT

Before we arrive, do a quick walkthrough to check for missed details. Straighten some pillows, smooth out blankets, vacuum some carpets, etc. And let’s absolutely double check that every bulb socket has a bulb. Ideally one that works. Double ideally one of the same color as the rest.
